Breaking Bad

Well... I can say I get it now. The hype. The memes. The people claiming this as the best show ever.

I believe it.

I have no specific words to describe Breaking Bad. It's the kind of TV show that we both HATE and LOVE. At the same time. Did I love it? Hell yeah. Will I watch it again? Hell no.

I like this poster.

It started out as a soppy drama about a chemistry teacher who decided to cook meth for extra income after he found out he has cancer. Lung cancer, to be precise. So, naming himself Heisenberg, he used all his skills and knowledge to produce the famous Blue Meth with the help of his sidekick Jesse. And what started out as a “side” income grew to be a titanic mess of a Meth Industry.

Season 1 mostly showed how Walter White started out from a careless meth-maker to growing a pair, being brave enough to challenge the druglord Tuco into business. Of course he (and Jesse) ended up making stupid mistakes that lead to a few deaths and Tuco’s temper. An old paralyzed old man (known as Tuco’s father) witnessed how they almost poisoned his son with Resin, and was instead killed in a shoot-out involving Walter’s brother in law, Hank. And to make it more dramatic, Hank is a DEA.

Season 2 moved on from Tuco to bigger villains. Walter became greedier as he looked into bigger markets to sell his drug in dispense of one of Jesse’s close friend (and dealer) Combo. Jesse got in a relationship with Jessica Jones Jane who later died because of Walter’s clinginess towards Jesse. This was the beginning of Walter becoming evil as he just watched Jane died and did nothing to help. But at this point, viewers would be on Walter’s side as he appeared “fatherly” and Jane was responsible for Jesse’s heroin addiction. Then we were introduced to Saul goodman the lawyer, Gus, the BEST villain ever! And Mike, the BEST hitman ever!

Season 3 was a relapse phase. Walter quit his meth-cooking activity only to be back after Gus’s persuasion. Jesse continued to cook and sell his own version of meth on the side until Walter took him in as his assistant again.  Skyler (Walter’s wife) found out about his side activity and after a few episodes of being a bitch she decided to assist in money laundering. As usual, Walter’s decision caused Gale (an innocent man) to die, murdered by Jesse and a whole new drama begins.

Season 4 was the climax of Walt’s demonic state. A big villain was introduced by the name of Don Eladio. Turned out he had killed Gus’s best friend in a morbid way (with the help of paralyzed Hector) and Gus had been holding a grudge. Mid-season showed an AWESOME revenge plot and what a true bad-ass Gus is. Unfortunately Ego arrived and Gus got snobby and careless which got him killed in the season finale by non-other than Walt himself.

Season 5 was the closure. Walt had become delusional. After killing Gus, he sees himself as God and wants to monopoly the meth industry. Although there were many cool moments such as a Train Heist, but the show had done too much that made Heisenberg a hated character. The ending was okay for me. He managed to rescue Jesse because he was the only one who can. And too many characters died including my favorite Mike so nope not gonna watch it again.

That’s all. Sorry for the long ass review. Too much to talk about this show but I’d be writing a novel. So that’s it. Overall it was an emotional roller-coaster and I totally get why people loved this show.
