King's Man (2022)

It's been 2 years since my last review of anything? Wow I have been either that busy or that lazy.

So King's Man. The third installment of the graphic novel-based movie franchise. Not starring any of the previous cast. A prequel, almost a stand-alone movie.

I LOVED it. This move is filled with a lot of actions, though my husband thought the opposite. I thought the fight scenes were a bit overwhelming and draggy and he thought the talking was too much. Because this blog is MINE so only my opinion counts here. Bahahaha.

Ralph Fiennes looks HOT in this movie. I didn't think Lord Voldermort had so much charisma until this. He was a gentleman, an action figure and hillarious at the same time.

There were favourite moments in the movie, personally for me. I absolutely HATED Rasputin but can't help but to appreciate his character, for instant. He's hillarious but definitely got my attention. I love the goats in the movie, who totally showed that goats not dumb. Mind-blowing plot twist. Predictable villains and much more.

The historical events were so comedically accurate. You can't help but to think "hey! It could have really been like this!" It did got me googling for the related history concerning some interesting characters cameos. For example the seductive famous early 1900s spy, Mata Hari. I'm predicting another cameo from her.  At least I'm looking forward for it.

So Kingsman was born here. I love how it was introduced. Fans would be so proud. I know I was.

Manners Maketh Man.

An honest 8/10 for this one. I was absolutely entertained and look forward to more Kingsman movie episode.

Breaking Bad

Well... I can say I get it now. The hype. The memes. The people claiming this as the best show ever.

I believe it.

I have no specific words to describe Breaking Bad. It's the kind of TV show that we both HATE and LOVE. At the same time. Did I love it? Hell yeah. Will I watch it again? Hell no.

I like this poster.

It started out as a soppy drama about a chemistry teacher who decided to cook meth for extra income after he found out he has cancer. Lung cancer, to be precise. So, naming himself Heisenberg, he used all his skills and knowledge to produce the famous Blue Meth with the help of his sidekick Jesse. And what started out as a “side” income grew to be a titanic mess of a Meth Industry.

Season 1 mostly showed how Walter White started out from a careless meth-maker to growing a pair, being brave enough to challenge the druglord Tuco into business. Of course he (and Jesse) ended up making stupid mistakes that lead to a few deaths and Tuco’s temper. An old paralyzed old man (known as Tuco’s father) witnessed how they almost poisoned his son with Resin, and was instead killed in a shoot-out involving Walter’s brother in law, Hank. And to make it more dramatic, Hank is a DEA.

Season 2 moved on from Tuco to bigger villains. Walter became greedier as he looked into bigger markets to sell his drug in dispense of one of Jesse’s close friend (and dealer) Combo. Jesse got in a relationship with Jessica Jones Jane who later died because of Walter’s clinginess towards Jesse. This was the beginning of Walter becoming evil as he just watched Jane died and did nothing to help. But at this point, viewers would be on Walter’s side as he appeared “fatherly” and Jane was responsible for Jesse’s heroin addiction. Then we were introduced to Saul goodman the lawyer, Gus, the BEST villain ever! And Mike, the BEST hitman ever!

Season 3 was a relapse phase. Walter quit his meth-cooking activity only to be back after Gus’s persuasion. Jesse continued to cook and sell his own version of meth on the side until Walter took him in as his assistant again.  Skyler (Walter’s wife) found out about his side activity and after a few episodes of being a bitch she decided to assist in money laundering. As usual, Walter’s decision caused Gale (an innocent man) to die, murdered by Jesse and a whole new drama begins.

Season 4 was the climax of Walt’s demonic state. A big villain was introduced by the name of Don Eladio. Turned out he had killed Gus’s best friend in a morbid way (with the help of paralyzed Hector) and Gus had been holding a grudge. Mid-season showed an AWESOME revenge plot and what a true bad-ass Gus is. Unfortunately Ego arrived and Gus got snobby and careless which got him killed in the season finale by non-other than Walt himself.

Season 5 was the closure. Walt had become delusional. After killing Gus, he sees himself as God and wants to monopoly the meth industry. Although there were many cool moments such as a Train Heist, but the show had done too much that made Heisenberg a hated character. The ending was okay for me. He managed to rescue Jesse because he was the only one who can. And too many characters died including my favorite Mike so nope not gonna watch it again.

That’s all. Sorry for the long ass review. Too much to talk about this show but I’d be writing a novel. So that’s it. Overall it was an emotional roller-coaster and I totally get why people loved this show.

The Haunting of Hill House

Lol, 1 and half years of review drought. Sorry bout that, been too busy at work for anything else.

The poster is weird. But it works.

Anyways, here's a review of Netflix's new horror series Haunting of Hill House. 10 episodes of intense, haunting drama about a house so evil, it breathes death.

I love how the writers build up the tension starting from episode 1. Honestly I have to say, to fully understand the story, you have to watch it with subs to not miss any important dialogue (coz EVERY word matters). And you cannot miss a scene. You'd think the 90s flashback was just for the beginning of the series but nope. The whole series is a past-present back and forth of horrifying drama about this poor unfortunate family of 7.

The best part of the story for me begins in episode 5 where things began to unveil. You start to understand what, why, when and how and want to jump into the deepest darkest area of the story immediately.

Overall for me, Haunting of Hill House is a sad drama about this very unusual family. It plays with your emotions, causing you to roll in a ball and cry (at least I did, lol) with a little horror on the side. The jump scares are justified so you won't be all jumpy and screaming for nothing but sound effects. The actors are brilliant and the storyline is just awesome. The hype was real. Good job, writers!

2017 so far... Bulk review.

Is it me, or is there something wrong with Belle's jawline?
Tale as old as time... And they weren't kidding about it being old. I waited a while to see Beauty and the Beast. All the gay hype made me reluctant to watch it after years of being excited about it. It wasn't that good. Yeah, cinematic and CGIs were great and Emma Watson is truly a beauty, but storyline wise... Boring. I wish they had made it more like a Maleficent thing. Every scene was predictable. Every dialogue was cheesy and they made too little effort using the same script as the one in 1994. Or was it 1995? Meh, either way, I'd give it a 6/10.

If it was a lazy day I would have slept throughout the whole movie. The only thing I liked about it was Charlize Theron coz she was gorgeous. The many things I hated about it was:
1. Vin Diesel was annoying as hell. I mean, how many times can you say the word "family" in a sentence, dude?
2. So he had a baby with Elena all this time? And she dies? Geez, just coz she doesn't fit in anymore y'all had to dispose her? I liked her, FFS!
3. "Hey let's be BFF with the dude who killed Han. Oh, and his brother who killed Giselle too!"
4. The Rock could redirect a speeding Torpedo with his bare hands. Lol.
5. The awkward non-chemistry between Vin and Michelle.
6. The two black guys trying too hard to be funny. To the extent of looking idiotic.
7. Forgettable scenes.
Or maybe I just hadn't, couldn't and wouldn't move on from the awesomeness that was Fast and Furious 5. I wish that Michelle Rodriguez character would just stay dead. #teamElena. 5/10.

I actually slept through the first movie. GotG 1 was flat out boring I have to admit. But eventually I managed to watch it after 5-6 times trying. Surprisingly for me, GotG2 was awesome. The script was funny, the storyline was alright and Merle... Well we all like Merle. The fact that it had little to nothing to do with the Avengers drama made it a cool movie. And the subtle romance made it bearable to watch. It was good. All the characters had funny moments. And Merle... ah... well he died in this one and the writers kinda knew that viewers would go "nah... he didn't die. He'll be back..." So they made that his body was burned on screen. Oh did I say Merle? I met Yondu. Yeah the blue guy. 9/10 for making me laugh a lot.

Remake after remake after remake were made for King Kong. But I have to admit, this one is the best so far. Kong was a badass in this one. And the heroin isn't some curly white blonde with watery eyes. Also, the hero isn't Adrien Brody xD.
This movie showed a more brutal side of Kong. A ruthless protector of Skull Island against the emo Nick Fury. You know, the black guy in every movie. The villains are both humans and monsters. A very interesting twist to the cheesy ape-human relationship. 8/10.

The writers did good in this one. The entire movie was depressing, you can actually feel it. I think it was based on the comics 'Old Man Logan', where Logan is an old man, and professor is an even older man, senile and everything. Set after the deaths of all the rest of the X-men (supposedly Wolverine had killed them all), Logan featured a little version of Wolverine who was a girl and also Spanish struggling to meet up with the rest of mini X-men. However, it was obviously an attempt to justify the wipe-out of the original X-men clan. You know, to make room for the new generation, coz they still can make money this way.
There were also reports saying that Hugh Jackman is done playing Wolverine, so he wanted to end it. What's up with these guys and "having enough" playing superheroes? Robert DJ, Chris Evans... Guys, you made billions because of these movies. And now you're lazy, you

I stopped being a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean after the first one. But the second and third were watchable. Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann made an interesting couple that kept people hooked to the series. And then there was POTC At World's End where they attempted to give Jack Sparrow a love interest. Nope it didn't work. They also made a new couple at the side, the young dude and the mermaid. Nope. That didn't work either.
This time, they realized that fans hadn't moved on from the Turners. So they brought them back in the form of Henry Turner, their teenage son. And They also ran out of ocean fairy tale references, so they brought up Poseidon's Trident to release all curse ocean-related including Will Turner's banishment on the Flying Dutchmen. If that wasn't enough, they had to make Barbossa a dad.
It wasn't a great movie for me, but was still watchable and entertaining. 7/10.

Ahhh... Walking down memory lane. At first I didn't feel like this movie would be that good. Power Rangers? How much more 1990s could it be?. But I was wrong. After looking over some clips from the original series, I felt retarded. They were so under-budget. So the remake was a brilliant idea. They used the same character names and origins, and improved them. Jason was hot, Kimberly was tough, Zack became asian, Billy turned black and Trini was lesbianized.
And you gotta love Rita. She was an awesome villain. With her bitchiness, she rocked the whole movie. #teamrita
The best part was the very subtle blast from the past. The song flashbacks, the megazord (zoid?) ensemble... the "It's Morphin' Time" Call out... etc etc.. For that, I'd give it 8/10.

7 month break. Here's a bulk review.

7 months and no update? Wow I must be that lazy. This is another level of Hangat-hangat tahi ayam, I tell ya. Here's a bulk update on some movies I watched lately.

1. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Fantastic Beasts is a spin-off from the Harry Potter movies. Duh, right? But unlike any of the HP movies, this is not based on a novel. Just a reference book. FBAWTFT is actually a comic relief book released by JK Rowling for fun. My copy supposedly belonged to Harry Potter. So the book has all these doodles and sketches by HP and friends. So the movie is based on nothing but a new script.
It was average, for me. I mean I've seen better. The animals were cute, which was the good part of the movie but I felt the storyline somehow was weak. Not to mention predictable. So good job to all the crew of the movie. Good arrangements and production. As for the screenplay and storyboard. Well, Hollywood, you could do better. A 7/10 for me.

2. Ouija

Twice I tried watching this movie. First time alone, the second time with my boyfriend. Not because it was too scary, but because it was too BORING. I got nothing from it except a good night sleep. The sound effects were extreme, they had nothing to do with what was going on and after 45 minutes of nothingness I finally gave up. To be fair, since I didn't finish it, I shouldn't be eligible to review it. But based on those few minutes, It really sucked. 2.5/10 for temporarily curing my insomnia.

3. Dr Strange

The hype was high for this movie. Me being a Marvel fan was a bit skeptical about this movie release. Firstly because the star was Benedict Cumberbatch, who that time I thought was weird looking and not hot enough.
I was wrong. Turned out, this movie was the reason I started watching Sherlock The Series. I wasn't disappointed at all. The movie was funny, entertaining and brilliant. I love the hero, love the villain. The only thing I'd change about this movie is the casting of that skinny twig Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One. She was boring, too pale and emotionless for the character. But other than that, Loved it! An 8.5/10.

4. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

I have always love children fantasy books. I had read The Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter Series (Who hasn't?), His Dark Materials (Or The Golden Compass Trilogy) and many. many Enid Blyton's books. What can I say? I was born in the 80s where books were the ultimate source of entertainment. So I kept looking forward to movie versions of these stories. To help me boost up my imagination. Miss Peregrine's movie was alright. I heard that they had changed a few major details in the book (One of them was Emma's and Olive's character being switched). You can read the differences here. I hadn't read the book yet, so they didn't matter to me.

What I thought the movie was that it was dark (another Tim Burton production of course) and sad. Maybe because a child died in the movie with his body beautifully preserved. Eva Green did a marvelous job as Miss Peregrine. She was enduring and yet strong and I sorta idolizes her. This movie? I'll gladly give it a 9/10 for being sweet, beautiful and touching. And I don't even like children. I'm looking forward to read the book. Maybe it will a little bit affect my feelings about it.

2016 so far... DvDs

Gods of Egypt

My first impression of this movie is that it sounded lame. I mean "God of Egypt"? Couldn't the producers find a better title for a movie? The title sounded lazy and the posters look like a CGI crew advertisement. I thought it was just another Clash of the Titans movie with boring visual effects. Well, it was. However, I kinda liked it. The cast was filled with beautiful people and the love story as a sideline was sweet. Also, I loved the happy ending. We lack of those recently. A solid 8/10 for me. Loved it.

How to Be Single

If you're looking for a simple, casual funny movie, this would be it. I love how the writers made the story line a cliche at first, and twisted the plot to an unexpected ending. The cast is an average list of actresses but it was watchable. A movie with a lot of lessons to learn. I'd recommend this to my single friends if I had any. An 8/10 for me.

The 5th Wave

I didn't know why I didn't watch this on the big screen, I chose to download instead. I also didn't know this movie was adapted from a book series. Oh well. Another post-apocalypse Sci Fi movie. Not much I can say about this. Chloe Moretz did a good job on this one. A good movie for teens, I guess. For me it was a little too light and predictable. A 6/10 for me. I'd watch it just for simple entertainment.

The Boy

A simple, cute Horror movie. Why cute? Because the storyline is soooo simple, you hardly need your brains to watch it. Also, no ghosts or demons. Just a creep living as a doll through the walls of an old house. It's the kind of movie they should put in Hallmark channel for me. A 6/10 for effort. I'd stick to James Wan level of Horrors.

2016 So Far... At the Cinema...

Batman Vs Superman

All that was in my head during the movie is the song "It's Raining Men". Two hot male Actors kicking ass and each other. For me, the storyline was so-so. I didn't care much for it. Batman was emo all the time for no clear reasons and Superman was obsessed with Lois Lane. Nevertheless, this movie was worth watching at the big screen. Although I heard it was well critisized by supposedly "professional" film critiques, the common movie goers LOVED it. So Hail BVS, you rocked. An 8/10 for me.

Captain America 3 : Civil War

I had always been on Team Cap. It's obvious why, duh! He's extremely deliciously hot. RDJ is a little too egoistic for me, not my kinda guy. This movie was awesome, as expected. The script was well written and funny and the emotions! Man... So deep. Maybe it's coz Marvel did an excellent work relating all its movies with each other. There's a strong bond between the characters and you can feel it playing with your emotions. A 9.5/10 for me. The 0.5 missing only because I didn't like how things ended between Cap and Stark.

Huntsman : Winter's War

I watched this movie alone, while my Moosh was playing Magic Cards in the same mall. Yeah, we rock like that. This movie was okay to be watched once. I didn't like Emily Blunt playing the Snow Queen, they should have chosen someone at least as hot as Charlize. The storyline was alright, I guess. Very PG-13. The BEST part of this movie is the no-show of Snow White in person, she would have ruined it. A 7/10 for me, coz the CGIs were cool.

Disney's The Jungle Book

Surprisingly, this movie was good. I loved the storyline and the development of the characters. My moosh and I actually went to watch this only to sleep in the cinema coz we were tired that day. Turned out I loved it. I love how the child actor made this work with just a green screen and a director for imagination. I didn't watch the original cartoon so I can't really compare. A 8/10 for this movie. The one thing that bothers me is why the hell is there an Orang Utan in India?

Deadpool

Despite the hype about this movie being 18+, I didn't really enjoy it that much. For me the movie was trying too hard to be funny all the time. At one point, I forgot what the movie was about. Anyways, It's was alright to be watched on Valentine's day. A 6/10 for me. And I know many people will disagree. I just didn't find the jokes that funny.

The Other Side of The Door

A Horror movie set up in India, which is very uncommon. The movie was about a couple who lost their son in an accident and lived in guilt and misery. The whole movie was more sad than scary. The mother trying to have a closure for her son's death by bringing him back to life which is forbidden and end up having to sacrifice herself to make things right again. A good movie to watch when you have no other choice. An 8/10 scare scale. Do not watch alone.
